It was many days earlier that in my pursuit of finding stirring human stories that I found a young 17-year-old voice which was addressing complex issues of Transgender conversions with unparalleled strength and confidence. The voice was of one who had walked the path of conversion, Akshara Balakrishnan. It was only imperative that I invite her to talk to us about her journey from being born a boy to undergoing surgical and medical procedures to become the wonderful woman that she is now. Satrang
Satrang originally began by providing social support to its members – through parties and other social gatherings, SA LGBTIQ individuals ended their isolation by meeting others like themselves and found a space to discuss unique cultural issues of family, religion, etc. Over the years, Satrang has transformed into an organization that empowers its membership through political, cultural, and support services.

Difference Between PUNJABI and HINDI Language:
There are 22 official languages in India, with Punjabi being one of them. Sometimes people of the West assume that all Indians speak in Hindi, which is the national language of India. Punjabi is spoken most by those who reside in Punjab and by Sikhs. Though Hindi is mostly understood by Punjabis, they prefer to talk in their own language. The basic difference between Punjabi and Hindi is the written format. Hindi is written in Devanagri script originating from Sanskit, whereas Punjabi has it s own script, Gurmukhi. |
